I have always wanted to start cooking for myself. The cooking gene seems to run through my family, so I decided that I would undertake a new challenge Rachel Ray style. After watching Julia & Julia, a spin off of Julia Child's life, I got the gusto to begin putting my skills to the test!
Spaghetti squash salad and meat loaf. 1.5 hours.
Since it was one of my first recipes, I was surprised that it went so smoothly! In fact, I had hardly any hiccups at all aside from the fact that I forgot to buy olives and had to have my dad run to the store while I was cooking. I had never eaten spaghetti squash before, and I was delightfully surprised by it. I'm not usually a vegetable fan, but this was a victory! The meat loaf was surprisingly simple: i just breaded it and coated it in a tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. The biggest pain was scooping out the insides of the squash and cooking it properly.

Chicken noodle soup from scratch. 4 hours.
Soup is a tricky one. This recipe called for a whole chicken, so I had to make one in the oven before even starting it off. Luckily, I planned ahead, so I had leftover chicken from the night before which I what I used. The other tricky part about soup is that it's difficult to make without over salting or making it too bland. This particular instance turned out well, because I added salt to taste right before serving. Every last drop of this soup got eaten. It's a redo for sure.
